Francis, known throughout his life as Jerry, was born on March 23, 1951, in Baltimore, the son of the late William DeVilbiss and Alma Klank. He grew up in Baltimore and built his career in accounting.
A devoted Catholic, Jerry placed great importance on his faith and, above all, his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Carol DeVilbiss, whom he married in 1974 and with whom he shared more than five decades of marriage, and by their three children, Katie Baghli (Salim), Eric DeVilbiss (Danielle), and Kenneth DeVilbiss.
He was an immensely proud grandfather to Lily Baghli, Ayden Baghli, Ryan Baghli, Abigail DeVilbiss, Emery DeVilbiss, Daniel DeVilbiss, and Michelle DeVilbiss. Spending time with his grandchildren was among the greatest joys of his life.
Jerry is also survived by his three brothers, William DeVilbiss, Charles DeVilbiss, and Paul DeVilbiss, with whom he shared a lifelong bond. Time spent with his brothers remained deeply important to him throughout his life.
He was a devoted Baltimore Ravens fan, and football provided the backdrop for many happy memories, conversations, and family traditions over the years.
Those who knew Jerry, however, will remember him most for the way he made people feel. He had a presence that could change the atmosphere of a room when he walked into it. He was genuinely friendly to everyone he met and had an uncommon ability to make people feel welcomed and at ease. Whether someone had known him for decades or had only just met him, Jerry treated people with warmth and kindness. Jerry was magic and joy.
He also possessed his own unique sense of humor. His personality, wit, and ability to make those around him laugh were unmistakable parts of who he was.
Jerry leaves behind a family that loved him dearly and countless memories that will continue to be shared for generations. His legacy lives on in his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, and the many people whose lives were made brighter simply because Jerry was part of them.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Schimunek Funeral Home 9705 Belair Rd, Nottingham, MD 21236.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Fullerton Church in Nottingham, Maryland. Burial will follow the Mass at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, Maryland.
Jerry will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.
