Born to the late William T. Albrent and Elrita C. Albrent (née Ruth), Gary was the beloved brother of Barbara Meyer and cherished uncle of Carl Meyer and Nancy Agnew and their families. He is also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
Gary was a proud graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Class of 1968, the first graduating class from the school's new location on Cold Spring Lane. Following graduation, he proudly served four years in the United States Navy as a Sonar Technician. After completing his military service, Gary continued his education at Johns Hopkins University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Throughout his career, Gary worked for several companies before retiring from Apogee Designs, Ltd. in 2014.
Gary was a quiet and independent man with a kind heart and a deep love for his family. He always had a joke ready to share and enjoyed trivia, participating for several years in Trivia Night at O'Loughlin's Restaurant in Arnold. He also took great interest in researching and tracing his family's more recent ancestry.
Gary's greatest passion, especially after retirement, was gardening. He took tremendous pride in the beautiful garden he designed and planted alongside his home, thoughtfully selecting plants and flowers so that something would be in bloom throughout the year.
Gary was formerly married to Jean Albrent (Schmuck).
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Gary will be remembered for his kindness, humor, love of family, and the care and dedication he brought to the things he enjoyed most.
