I recently heard of Geetha's passing.  I am a former colleague from NBS and I would like to offer my most sincerest condolences to her family and friends.

I am so sorry for her entire family and friends and co-workers for Geetha's sudden and tragic passing. I used to walk behind her from the garage to work. She dressed very elegantly for a laboratory worker. We worked on different floors in both our current building and our previous building, so I didn't get an opportunity to talk with her and become a close friend. Occasionally we did ride the elevator together and would say hello. 

I am a Christian and a Rinzai Zen Buddhist monk, so I feel a closeness to Hindus because Buddha was a Hindu. The name Geetha means "song of God" and is connected to the Bhagavad Gita.  Although Geetha was a very quiet person at work (unlike me, sometimes), I feel that her soul was quietly singing the song of God.

I am reasonably sure that, with family members and friends, Geetha was less quiet than at work. But my soul feels that her soul was many steps toward enlightenment.

Although it is very sad that she no longer walks among us, her soul can reunite with her husband and touch the souls of others.

Sreenath and Siddharth, I hope that you can help each other with this sad loss of your mother's physical presence and that you can feel the presence of her soul visiting you. I have had a few rare experiences with my deceased family members when I was sleeping or on the border of waking and sleeping. It soothes my soul. And your mother's soul will soothe yours.

Dear Preetha, yes we all call you as Preetha. When you married Jagan & came into Gomatam family there was already one Geetha has come. So my handsome brother named you Preetha & the name stayed on. Little lovely Siddharth was born we were delighted & so when Srinath came. We were stunned at the resemblance of our father in Srinath. Destiny made all of us to go to different parts of the world but not our love & affections for our dear ones. Mothers’ place can never be replaced.  So also Distances will not distance the family members. We’ll flock together as always. We all love you Geetha. May your soul reach the Lotus feet of Lord Krishna. 

Geetha athai, a beacon of positivity. The lady who could make thousands of miles disappear just through a phone call. Whenever my mom and I spoke with her, we would always leave our call elated. 

For my dad, she was someone with whom he could converse sans judgement and just pure love. If he had been with us, he would have been in Baltimore by now. 

It was athai with whom I had had my first pizza ever way back in fourth grade. Got me an entire large pizza just because I had asked for one, despite knowing I wouldn't be able to finish it. And she sat still the entire journey back from Annan Kovil post Sid and Sri's poonal just because I was asleep on her lap. That's just the kind of person she was. 

You will be dearly missed athai. Wish we had spent more time with you!

I have no words to express my feelings. I cannot digest this news. I will never forget the olden days when you both were in Chidambaram. Hope you remember me. I am not able to talk to you due to time difference . Geetha this great. May her soul rest in peace. I am praying daily for the welfare of both of you. Iam in a shock. I miss Geetha very much. May God give you strength to manage the situation. We are all for you both. My heart felt condolences to you both.

I am at a loss for words on how to express my love and gratitude to Geetha Chitti. She gave me my name, she was the warmest and the coolest auny any little or big girl would dream of; for she was at the origins of my first lipstick, or heels and any sense of style. Always with a big smile, positive mindset and never a bad word about anyone, chitti brought wholesome goodness to any moment. She was a trooper in face of so much adversity and did her best at any situation. May she rest in peace, after an arduous life lived in the service of all her loved ones. We love you chitti - and can feel that you are smiling at us from wherever it is, that you are! 

Sid and Sree - I wish you both all possible strength at this moment. And we are here for you, if ever… you need a word, a hug or anything comforting as you accept her passing and move forward.

I remember a fun loving and devoted mom to you two. Geetha aunty and I come under the Libra sun sign and she always enjoyed pointing out that we shared similar traits because of that.  She dealt with challenges with strength and grace.

I remember a vivacious woman that Geetha née Preetha Mami was.  Sparkling big eyes and a cool sense of the world. She was hip and so with the times. Her descriptions of the Beirut days when it was under intense attack in the late 70s  used to go on through the night. My deepest condolences to Siddharth and Sreenath over this deep loss. Their cousin Deepa.
