July 27, 1953 – August 9th, 2023
Born in Baltimore, George was the son of Lou and Eloise Schroeder. He grew up in the Colgate-Eastpoint neighborhood and attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School.
After the family moved to Rosedale in 1968, he attended and graduated from Overlea High School in 1971.
George loved music! He began his own musical career at an early age, and became an outstanding bass guitarist, playing with some of Maryland’s best musicians. He was a member of many local bands in the 70’s and 80’s, including the Royal 5, Rock Island, and Brass Rail, to name a few.
In May of 2014, George’s talent and showmanship was recognized when he was inducted into the Maryland Entertainment Hall of Fame.
While finding fulfillment in music, he simultaneously worked at Eastern Stainless Steel Company, Southern States, Friends Medical Lab, and Maryland Reprographics from where he ultimately retired in 2018. In retirement, George continued to stay active by walking, almost daily, at Fort McHenry. George and his wife took many enjoyable trips to Florida where their son resided.
Family was a big part of George’s life. He is survived by his mother, Eloise, his wife of 45 years, Terry, his son, Nick and daughter-in-law, Emily, his daughter, Katie and son-in-law, Matt. He was the proud grandfather to Samantha, Charles, Felix, and Phoebe. He was a brother to Mike, Greg, Pat, and Cindy. George is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.
May God bless George and watch over him in eternal peace.
