July 5, 1949 – October 26, 2026
Gioacchino “Jack” Pane, a beloved father, Nonno, brother, uncle, companion, and friend, passed away on October 26, 2026. Born in Sicily on July 5, 1949, Jack immigrated to Baltimore, Maryland, in 1965, bringing with him his Italian traditions, strong work ethic, and larger-than-life personality.
Jack discovered his passion for hairstyling at just 12 years old. In 1977, he opened Gioacchino Hair Salon, where he spent nearly five decades doing what he loved. More than just a salon, Jack created a gathering place where friendships were made, stories were shared, and laughter was guaranteed. People came to look good but always left feeling good. His humor, generosity, and unforgettable personality made everyone feel like family.
Outside the salon, Jack found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He loved cooking, dancing, tending to his farm, and sharing fresh produce, eggs, bread, and pasta with family and friends. He was always ready with a joke, a good meal, or a lottery ticket, and he never missed an opportunity to make someone smile.
Above all, Jack treasured his family. He was the proud father of four children: Pasquale Pane (Christina), Adriana Benewicz (Matthew), Daniela Peeler (Brian), and Felicia Pane. He was a loving Nonno to ten grandchildren: Gioacchino, Marco, Gianluca, Cecilia, Giuliana, Danilo, Donovan, Audrey, Elio, and Josephine.
He is also survived by his beloved companion and dance partner, Judy Daniel; his sister, Antonia Bemini (Giuseppe); his nieces and nephews, Graziella, Nick, Giovanna, Mick, and Raffaele; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jenna, Nico, Luca, Massimo, Giuseppe, and Laura.
Jack lived life with passion, laughter, and a generous heart. The salon he built will continue to carry his name, his spirit, and the countless memories made within its walls. His legacy lives on through his family, the traditions he passed down, and the many lives he touched.
He will be remembered for the laughter he brought, the love he shared, and his remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome.
Until we meet again, Jack. Keep the pasta cooking, the music playing, and save us one more dance.
