On May 22, 2026, Helen Pauline Marcomin (nee Kordek) passed away. Helen is the beloved wife of the late James Marcomin; devoted mother of Helene Hanson; loving grandmother of Griffin Hanson; dear sister of Steve Kordek and wife Terri, Lisa Duerling and husband Keith, and the late Gloria Culbertson. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was an incredibly hard-working and loving woman. Her dream was to become a librarian, and although she spent many years in a career in accounting, she lived a life surrounded by books and cherished family and friends. In 2002, she made the journey from Maryland across the country to live with her daughter in Las Vegas, where she lovingly cared for both her daughter and her only grandchild. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her family back East, sending many birthday and Christmas cards, or talking on the phone for hours. She eventually settled on California's scenic Central Coast, where she fell in love with the region's wildflowers and the golden sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. She made many dear friends in Lompoc, California, where she enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, reading on the beach, and hosting both friends and family when they came to enjoy the California sunshine. Helen lived generously and vibrantly, and she will be greatly missed.
