John Dietz

On September 4, 2026 John Dietz passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Baltimore on April 21, 1940 to Philip and Margaret Dietz. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia M. Dietz (nee Fauver); devoted father of John M. Dietz (Mary), Patricia C. Davies (Michael), and the late Paul J. Dietz (Mary Ann); cherished grandfather of Matthew Dietz (Lauren), Jennifer Anderson (Adam), Zachary Dietz (Jessica), Karen Davies, Johan Davies, and Daniel Davies; loving great-grandfather of Noah Dietz and Daniel Anderson; dear brother of the late Margaret Gottschalk, Anthony Dietz, Edmund Dietz, Philip Dietz, Marie Schmidt, and Madeline Esser; he is also survived by his loving companion Mary Gue, numerous loving nieces and nephews, family members and many friends.

John loved Oktoberfest, cheering on the Orioles, enjoying a Natty Boh or Miller Lite, and watching his favorite John Wayne movies. John had a special gift for making friends wherever he went—he never met a stranger. As you remember John, remember him with a smile and think of one of his favorite sayings “Just one more.”

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Schimunek Funeral Home Inc., 9705 Belair Rd. Nottingham, MD 21236, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 10:30 AM, at St. Stephen Catholic Church (Bradshaw). Interment will follow at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
