John Mabiria Nyaberi was born in 1958 to Mabiria and Mama Pacifica Kwamboka Mabiria. He was a loving husband to Hellen Nyamokami and a devoted father to five children: the late George Omenge Nyaberi, Cliff Mitema Nyaberi, Polycarp Onsongo Nyaberi, Sospeter Miyogo Nyaberi, and Janet Kerubo Nyaberi. He was also a cherished brother to Nyarangi Mabiria, Kemunto Mabiria, Hudson Kamanda Mabiria, and Pronicah Asuga.
John began his education in local primary and secondary schools before answering the noble call to serve his country. In 1974, he joined the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), where he served with honor and discipline for 30 years. As an infantry soldier, he rose to the rank of Corporal, and his exemplary skills earned him a position as an instructor at the Recruit Training School (RTS) Eldoret.
In 2001, he proudly represented Kenya in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL). After three decades of distinguished service, he retired from the military in 2004.
His passion for promoting peace did not end with retirement. In 2012, Mr. Nyaberi joined a team of retired officers in a peace and stabilization mission in Iraq, further demonstrating his unwavering commitment to global peace.
In his later years, Mr. John embraced a quiet and fulfilling life as a farmer. He enjoyed good health and spent his days surrounded by his beloved grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
He will be remembered as a disciplined soldier, a dedicated family man, a peacemaker, and a pillar of strength to all who knew him.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
