On March 14, 2018 Melva (Mitzi) Margaret Stratemeyer passed away at the Oak Crest Extended Care Center in Parkville, MD. She was the beloved wife of William I. Stratemeyer; devoted step-mother of Todd Stratemeyer and his wife Brenda; cherished step-grandmother of Courtney and Caitlin Stratemeyer; beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Nellie Malenski; dear sister of the late Wanda Korzenski and her husband John Korzenski, Sr., the late Melvin Malenski, Sr. and his wife Sheila, and the late Albert Malenski; loving sister-in-law of Henry and Barbara Stratemeyer, and Gurleen Prokop; devoted aunt of Chris and Kathy Stratemeyer, Rev. John and Pearl Makuliski, William and Colleen Congdon, Melvin and Sheila Malenski; Tom and Jumalyn Malenski, William and Janice Long, Ed and Loretta Seleski, and the late John Korzenski, Jr.; loving great-aunt of Isabelle, Abigail and Braydon Stratemeyer, John Makuliski, Nathan and Jennifer Neuschwander, Troy, Matthew, and Stewart Congdon, Michael Malenski, the late Tommy Malenski, the late Megan Malenski, Matthew and Nathan Malenski, Jennifer Long, Melvin Seleski, and the late Sofia Seleski; dear cousin of Clem Frenchy, the late Veronica Frenchy, Daniel and Emily Frenchy, and John and Maria Weaver and their children Sophia and Martin. She is also survived by her extended family Frank Hammersla and Betty Philberry, Pat Jurzynski, Wayne and Brenda Sponski, Ronnie and Laura Wise, Dottie Leonhardt, Bonnie Lee, Betty Hall, Florence and Stanley Sdanowick, Joehanna Marcelli, Roseann McDermit, Rosemary Petti, Patti Finner and John Slike, and the late Loretta Pasko.
Melva was born on Broadway in Fells Point and graduated from Catholic High. Melva worked for the State of Maryland Health Department for thirty years and Johns Hopkins Bayview for thirteen years. Melva loved to play the guitar and especially loved Spanish classical and country music.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Schimunek Funeral Home Inc., 9705 Belair Rd. Nottingham, MD 21236 on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church (Fullerton). Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
