Mildred "Nancy" Jenkins

On Monday, January 15, 2024, Mildred “Nancy” Jenkins (nee Gliss), beloved wife of John “Wes” Jenkins, loving mother of Beverly Jenkins, Joyce Jefferson (Scott Jefferson), and Jeff Jenkins (Nicole Ripken), and cherished grandmother of Emily Jefferson, Andrew Jefferson (Maya Jefferson) and Mily Jenkins, passed away in Baltimore, Maryland. Also surviving are many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Nancy was pre-deceased by her parents Helen Gliss Herrmann, George Gliss, and stepfather Frederick Herrmann.

Nancy was a graduate of the Eastern High School class of 1958, she earned her bachelor's degree from Towson University and master’s degree in education from Loyola University. Nancy was a devoted teacher, first in Middle River and then for 25+ years at St. John's the Evangelist School in Hydes, Maryland, where she taught accelerated math and led the computer program. Nancy was a very active member of the Bel Air United Methodist Church taking leadership roles with the United Methodist Women for many years. She loved travelling, especially to Disneyworld and the Animal Kingdom, visiting Ocean City, cross-stitching, reading, puzzling, and most of all enjoying quality time with her family and friends.

A gathering of friends and family will begin at 10am on January 25th followed by a brief memorial service at 11:30am at Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 9705 Belair Road, Nottingham, Maryland 21236. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Nancy’s name to Bel Air United Methodist Church, 21 Linwood Avenue, Bel Air, Maryland 21014.
