what do you say about a man who has given so much, yet asked so little. i could go on for hours.

i remember all the places you used to take us as kids, and all the things you let me help you with around the house over the years. it seems like those days passed so quickly, and its impossible to hold back the tears.
you were like the father that i never had, and i will never forget that.

i miss and love you more than words can explain.

Pop Pop,

I keep thinking back to my visit with you June 8th while you were at Franklin Square.  We had such a great conversation that day and talked about many things.  We laughed and had some tears.  It was evident from our conversation the pride that you had felt in me, where I was in my life as well as pride you had in my Family.  You told me how happy you were when my Mom told you that she was pregnant with me and how much you enjoyed having me around while Dad was in Vietnam.  In my first year of life you helped give me the foundation that a child needs.  I am certain being with you helped my Dad to know that I(and Mom)was here in capable, loving hands.  To my Mom and Dad, you passed on a strong work ethic, confidence, importance for honesty and integrity, as well as being dedicated to your Family.  They certainly have instilled that quality in me and I am doing the same for my Children.  We will continue to make you proud.  I know that we have always had a strong bond and I am going to miss that so very much.  I thank you for being such a great PopPop to me.

For me it all started in 1959 with serving the Thomas family their newspaper at 1502 Chilworth Ave. 
As a very young boy I was amazed by several things at the Thomas residence. First of which Mom had her own car. Then there was room air conditioners. There was a chest freezer and a piano in the basement. The Thomas kids drank Coca Cola, not Kool Aid. But most of all, 1502 Chilworth Ave was a happy place &  "safe" place. 

Bren & I married June 13, 1966. From that time to this day you have influenced my life. I had no skills and little confidence. Quietly and consistently you worked with me. You were a man of few words, but the words you choose were encouraging. I screwed up often, but you hung in there with me.

Your influence has helped me take care of my family in so many ways.

I'm glad we had these last couple of years to reflect and laugh together. I'm also glad I found the courage to tell you my feelings & thank you for teaching me so many things.

Rest assured Mom will be taken care of with much love.

I will miss our breakfast outings.

Pop Pop, My heart is empty and my tears are rolling just missing you everyday! You impacted my life in so many ways. You loved me and my family unconditionally. You were a wonderful person with a huge heart. You gave and never asked in return. When I walk by your bedroom I find myself still looking for you and I know you are there just not physically anymore. I pray that you are not suffering. Please look down on us and walk us through life. I promised that I would take care of Mom Mom and I will not let you down.  I love you to the moon and back baby!!  Love Shell
