On June 19, 2026, Ronald James Herrmann entered eternal rest. Beloved father of Brandy Dorr (Herrmann) and husband Brett, and Jessica Tabia (Herrmann); cherished grandfather—affectionately referred to as “Happy”—of Mason, Maxwell, Ian and Amira; dear brother of Diane McKenzie (Herrmann) and husband Alan, Joyce Boggs (Herrmann) and husband Mike. He was preceded in death by parents Regina Agatha Herrmann (Krieger) and Frederick Louis Herrmann; siblings, Regina Sikorsky (Herrmann), Robert Herrmann, Kenneth Herrmann, Frederick “Fritz” Herrmann, Donald Herrmann and Rose Evelyn Lauder (Herrmann). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and many loving friends and co-workers.
Ron was a devoted father and grandfather whose grandchildren called him “Happy.” He cherished family gatherings and always wound up seated at the dining room table with his siblings recalling fond memories and sharing stories that generated smiles and laughter. His home was filled with love, and he looked forward to Sundays and watching the Ravens game with his children and grandsons by his side. Cheering, yelling or napping were involved depending on whether our Purple Flock was leading or trailing behind, but he was always a fan! You could always count on chocolate cupcakes or an infamous strawberry shortcake from Herman’s Bakery being present for Sunday celebrations. He enjoyed phone calls with his grandchildren in NC, visits to the beach and any opportunity to “get some sun!” He was also an avid car enthusiast who appreciated strolling through car shows and identifying the plethora of vehicles he owned throughout his life. His grandchildren delighted in listening to him identify the Year, Make and Model of every car on display followed by him pointing and saying, “Owned that one, owned that one…and I sold that one to buy that one over there!”
Ron worked at Bethlehem Steel in Sparrows Point, Maryland for more than 30 years. Not ready for retirement, he continued on and worked for Adams Jeep and Adams Chevrolet for another 20+ years.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 9705 Belair Rd, Nottingham, MD 21236, on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and again on Monday June 29, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am and a Celebration of Life immediately after the service, also at Schimunek’s.
