Theodoros “Ted” Agapaloglou passed away peacefully on October 11th, 2026 surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. He was 82.
Ted was born on the island of Andros, Greece, in 1944, to the late Constantine and Pandora Agapaloglou (née Kohouloglou). His family soon moved to the mainland in Pireaus, Greece in the Kokkinia neighborhood, where he enjoyed an active childhood. At just 16 years old, Ted became a world traveler by joining the Greek Merchant Marine. Driven by a dream to build a life in the United States—following in the footsteps of his uncle, aunt and cousins—Ted achieved his goal in 1970.
Upon arriving in America, he began working at the Williamsburg Inn in Whitemarsh, Maryland where he met and soon married the love of his life, Monica (née Huppenthal), with whom he shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. The couple eventually made their home in Denton, Maryland, where Ted achieved the American Dream as the owner and heart of The Corner Restaurant.
Daily, Ted could be found behind the counter, manning the grill to serve breakfast and lunch. Through his signature hospitality, hard work, and genuine care for his patrons, his regular customers became far more than business—they became lifelong friends. His faith was a steady pillar throughout his entire life, and he was an active parishioner of both the St. Demetrios and St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox communities. Ted volunteered many years overseeing the food ordering and preparation for St. Nicholas' annual Greek Festivals.
Ted’s greatest pride was always his family. He was a loving father to two children, a devoted husband, and a cherished "Pappou" whose legacy lives on through his grandchildren.
Ted is survived by his beloved wife, Monica Agapaloglou; his devoted daughter, Eleni Libertini, and her husband, Stephen; his cherished granddaughters, Gianna Libertini, Sophia Libertini, and Pandora Agapaloglou; and Pandora’s mother, Meredith Wallace. He is also survived by his sister/brother in laws- Sharon & Richard Cornelius, Peter Michael & Sheri Huppenthal and April Dickerson, special cousins Steven & Bess Agapis and Tony & Athena Agapis, along with a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends both in the United States and in Greece.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Konstantine "Kosta" Agapaloglou; his brothers, John, Michael, and Lefteri; his sister, Areti; and his parents, Constantine and Pandora.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 10:30 AM, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, where Ted will Lie in State from 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church Cemetery.
