On Saturday, April 17, 2021, Valerie F. Jones, 76, of Parkville, MD passed peacefully after a valiant struggle with vascular disease. Val was the daughter of the late Howard and Margaret (Redifer) Jones. She was born and raised in Dundalk, MD and graduated from Dundalk High School in 1963.
Val had a long and illustrious career with McCormick and Company. She started in 1963 and retired after 41 years. After starting off on the production line she quickly moved into the leadership ranks achieving many accolades and awards for her performance.
Val received every award given for outstanding performance including the coveted CP McCormick Diamond Wreath Award. Along the way, Val broke through many barriers, such as becoming the first female supervisor, manager, and plant manager of the Industrial Divisions in Hunt Valley and California. She also went through the multiple management board system to become an emeritus member. On her way to accomplishing these, Val became known as a skilled troubleshooter and manufacturing expert. Val was called upon to help out in trouble spots in many locations including overseas. Throughout all of the divisions of McCormick and Company, she was highly respected by employees and executives alike.
Val enjoyed skiing and golf, and her favorite activity was spending time with her great friends and family.
Valerie is survived by her beloved Randi (Rosann) Manfredi, together 25 years; her sister, Nancy Royston (Jack), brother, Ron Jones (Karen), and sister, Carol Petro (Richard). Three nieces, Tina Leonard, Alexis Manfredi, and Kirsten Jones. Six nephews, Jimmy Royston, Dominic Petro, Mike Petro, Stephen Puopolo, Brendan Jones, and Matthew Russ; and fourteen great nieces and nephews, Tommy, Mike, Sarah, Sammy, Hannah, Ricky, Josiah, Nick, Jake, Eliot, Oliver, Liam, Reese, and Mickenzie.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, April 26, 2021, from 10 AM to 1 PM, at the Schimunek Funeral Home, 9705 Belair RD, Nottingham, MD 21236. A Memorial service will begin at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Val's name to the Disabled American Veterans, 101 N. Gay St. Ste. B, Baltimore, MD 21202, or www.dav.org.
