Although my father was a member of "The Greatest Generation" as a combat veteran of the Pacific Campaign in WWII, he never thought of himself in any way, shape, or form as a "hero". At just 17 years old he thought only about doing his job to win the war. But to me he was one of the greatest individuals I have ever known, and I was always proud to call him daddy. He was certainly a hero to me and to my brother and sister. He loved his family above self, and above all else. He kept us safe and guided us with a tremendous set of life impacting values which we always remembered. Most importantly we knew he loved us unconditionally, and no matter what we ever did-we knew he would always love us, and he was proud of us.
