

Mrs. DOROTHEA R. MCKINSEY, of Olympia Way, Novato, California died April 26, 2014 at her home in Marin County with her loving children and grandchildren at her side. Mrs. McKinsey was born Dorothea Ann Ritko, December 9, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended Taylor Allderdice High School –Class of 1944. She went to work at radio station WWSW in Pittsburgh in 1945 where she met Harold J. Goldstein a local on-air radio personality and the station’s director of promotions. The couple was married in 1951, started a family and remained together until Harold’s death in 1964. Dorothea went on to work for the Quaker Oats Company before returning to WWSW radio where she met David Lampton McKinsey in 1967. The couple married in 1969. They moved to Marin County California in 1972. Dorothea worked at KABL radio Shamrock Broadcasting in San Francisco as executive secretary to the station general manager for 19 years, while David served as the station program director. Dorothea retired from KABL in 1993. In retirement she enjoyed her San Francisco GIANTS baseball and continued to support the Pittsburgh Steelers, while a loyal 49er fan. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of St Margaret of Scotland parish in Greentree, Pennsylvania, a member of St. Sebastian’s Church of Greenbrae, California and a current member of St Anthony of Padua Church, Novato, California until her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, David L., grandparents, Andrew Single-Mary Petro Single, John Ritko-Anne Susko Ritko, mother Mary C., father John J., brother Joseph J., sister Mary Catherine Ritko, sister-in–law Ella Niskach Ritko, son-in-law John Walgora, aunts and uncles, Anne Single wife of Michael Single, Andrew Single married to Mary Susko, Kathryn Single wife of James Trofino, John Single married to Pauline Russian, Helen Single wife of Charles Tomkosky, Verne Single wife of Charles Allendorfer, Susan Single, Michael Single, Michael Ritko, Joseph Ritko married to Mary Ordlosky and Mary Ritko. She is survived by daughter Marilyn R. Walgora, son John B. Goldstein, daughter-in-law Toni M. Goldstein, son Gregory G. Goldstein, daughter-in-law Maria Landazuri-Goldstein, grandson Mark R. Walgora, granddaughters Laura I. Goldstein and Mary R. Goldstein, niece Ella Mary Weisbrod, nephew Fred Weisbrod, and great-nieces Patty and Kattie Weisbrod.
Friends received from 2:00pm-7:00pm on Wednesday, April 30 at Keaton’s Redwood Chapel of Marin, 1801 Novato Blvd. Novato. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday, May 1 with a Rosary at 10:30am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1000 Cambridge St. Novato. Graveside Service to follow at Valley Memorial Park, Novato. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Petaluma and the American Cancer Society. Services entrusted to Keaton’s Redwood Chapel of Marin.
