

Lola Mae Lathrop Lola Lathrop entered into eternal life on Friday morning, December 30, 2011. She was born on February 4, 1925 to Maurice and Barbara Kivley in Sisseton, South Dakota. Lola graduated from Sisseton High School in 1942. She worked in a local bakery after she graduated, but soon was talked into moving to Chicago by two of her sisters who lived there. She became part of the war effort by working for Western Electric making velocity time fuses for artillery shells. After the war she moved to Redding, California to join several other members of her family. One of her brother's who worked for PG&E, introduced her to Ed Lathrop who worked as a Engineering Estimator for PG&E. Ed and Lola were married in April 1950. Lola served as a dental assistant in Redding until Ed was relocated to Stockton for a new job with PG&E. After a brief search, Lola was hired by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in its mapping department. She became a career wife and mother after Paula was born. Lola is survived by her loving husband, Ed of Novato, daughter Paula Rumbold (David) of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, son Gary Lathrop (Marianne) of Santa Rosa, son Eric Lathrop (Mary Hernandez) of Rohnert Park, daughter Carol Riboli (Rich) of Novato, and her five grandchildren; Jennifer Rumbold, Richie and Ryan Riboli, and Elena and Henry Lathrop. Lola is also survived by one of her ten siblings, her sister Barbara Dudley of San Ramon. Lola, Ed, Carol and Eric have been active members of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in San Rafael. Lola served for many years with Lutheran Care for the Aging, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Lutheran Braille Workers, and as a choir member. Lola was one of the original drivers for the Meals on Wheels in Novato and served for more than 20 years. She also served as an assistant teacher at a school for handicapped children in San Rafael and as a reading resource assistant for middle school children in Novato. Lola was loved by all. Her passing will leave an unfulfilled void. She was a strong life force of good and those she leaves behind can be comforted in knowing that she is with God, joyful and free of pain. We love you Lola, and your spirit will be with us always. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 on Saturday, January 7th at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 1100 Las Gallinas Avenue, San Rafael, CA 94903. Donations can be made in Lola's memory to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
