Walter Bergamini

Walter J. Bergamini 11/26/24 - 5/24/12 Peacefully passed away with his family by his side at the age of 87. Loving son of the late Fred and Anna Bergamini. They moved from Italy to San Francisco when he was six months old. Grew up on Potrero Hill. Graduated from Mission High in 1943. Upon graduating he was drafted into the Army and served in the South Pacific until the war ended. He met his future bride Doris in 1946, entered the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) in 1947, and they married on June 20, 1948. Moved from San Francisco to Novato in 1969. Retired from SFFD as a Lieutenant in 1977. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Doris, five children Diane (Steve), Michael (Joanne), Catherine (Tim), Charles (Angela), and Patricia. Nine grandchildren Regina, Christopher, Gabriel, Alicia, Joseph, Jeffrey (Andrea), Anna, Alexander, Dominic and great-granddaughter Victoria. Services will be held at Keaton's Mortuary, 1801 Novato Blvd, Novato on Tuesday, May 29th, with visitation starting at 5:00PM and the Rosary at 7:00PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 1806 Novato Blvd, Novato, on Wednesday, May 30th at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the charity of your choice .
