

Walter E. Zander, 84, of Novato, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014. He was born in San Francisco on September 8, 1929, the place where he left his heart. Walt graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.A. and received his Masters in Psychology from the University of the Pacific. He was married to the love of his live, Lois C. Zander, in 1952. Walt worked in Education for the Mill Valley Unified School District as a teacher, psychologist and principal. He will be remembered in the MVUSD for his support for all students and his dynamic sense of humor. He had a passion for going to Giants Baseball games, walking in the woods, going to the ocean and spending time with family. In this time of mourning, his family cherishes all that he brought to their lives, such as the calm peaceful perspective of “everything is going to be alright.” Walt is survived by his wife Lois C. Zander, daughter Cheryl M. Zander, son Edmund M. Zander, daughter-in-law Joy Zander, granddaughter Zoey M. Zander as well as many friends and colleagues. A memorial service was held at Villa Capri at Verenna in Santa Rosa on Friday, January 31, 2014.
OBITUARY FOR LOIS C. ZANDER
Lois C. Zander, 79, of Novato, California, passed away February 3, 2014. She was born in Oakland, California on April 21, 1934. Lois graduated from Ukiah High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree and Teaching Credentials from San Francisco State University. She was married to the love of her life, Walter E. Zander, in 1952. Lois worked as a teacher for over 40 years, teaching 4th grade for the majority of those years in the Dixie School District. She was a member of ADK and had a passion for gardening, hiking, going to the ocean, and caring for her family. She will remembered most by her big Gracious Smile, that filled those around her with happiness. Lois is survived by daughter Cheryl M. Zander, son Edmund M. Zander, daughter-in-law Joy Zander, granddaughter Zoey M. Zander as well as many friends and colleagues. Lois is preceded in death by her late husband, Walter E. Zander, who passed away earlier this year. A combined memorial service for Walter and Lois will be held on Saturday, March 8th at 10:30am at Keaton’s Redwood Chapel in Novato, Ca, followed by a reception at the Dixie School House in San Rafael.
