So sorry to hear for Ward's passing. I worked with him at RCPD for many years and always enjoyed his company and sense of humor. He will be missed.....

When I joined the San Rafael Police Department as a new officer in 1975 “Woody” was my training officer. He quickly became much more than that; he was a mentor and a friend who changed the trajectory of my life. I do not believe I would have enjoyed the professional successes of my later life without the influence he had on me early in my career; in fact I probably wouldn't have gotten through my first year as an officer without him. As a sergeant, a trainer and a brother officer, Ward could always be counted on to be there when he was needed most. He was that way on duty or off. Ward was just that kind of man and my family and I owe him a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid. It is I believe, a debt shared by many others, including the community he served.

It was my pleasure to have been Ward's supervisor and friend at RCPD. He was a great friend as well as a dependable co-worker. His positive attitude will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family and friends as Ward is one of the those persons that can't easily be replaced.
