In Loving Memory of:
Arleane Johnson was born January 6, 1937, to the late Charlie and Anna Lee Martin in Holly Springs, Mississippi. Arleane was the eighth child born to this union; ten siblings preceded her in death.
Arleane received her early education at Wadswoth Elementary School and later attended Rosenwald High School, where she graduated in 1957. She accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life.
After graduating from high school, Arleane relocated to Chicago with her brothers and sisters. On October 18, 1958, she united in holy matrimony to Robert Johnson Jr., who proceeded her in death. From this union they were blessed with three loving children: Sharon, Morris, and Bobby.
Arleane was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She was employed at Rico Leather Industries for over thirty years, from which she later retired. She was a devoted and loving wife, a caring and nurturing mother, and a supportive sister. Known for her strength and honesty, Arleane said what she meant and meant what she said. She was a gentle soul, to know her was truly to love her.
Arleane enjoyed many hobbies, including doing hair, cooking soul food, and gardening. It was not uncommon to find her doing hair every Saturday morning back in the day. Her love for gardening was evident, as both her front and backyard were admired by neighbors. She truly had a green thumb and could bring even the most
struggling plants back to life. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing word search puzzles and playing the lottery, especially scratch-off tickets, which she loved to sit and scratch for hours. She faithfully attended Bible Study Fellowship up until her health challenges. One of her favorite scriptures was Matthew 6:9-13.
Arleane lived a full and vibrant life. She flew for the first time to Las Vegas, went on a cruise ship, and participated in two senior travel tours along the East Coast.
Arleane was a resilient woman, who courageously overcame many health challenges up until the evening of January 14, 2026, when she earned her wings as God called his daughter home.
Arleane leaves to cherish and celebrate her life, her loving daughter, Sharon (Tino) Pagan; her oldest son, Morris Johnson; her youngest son, Bobby L. Johnson; and bonus daughter, Ruby Johnson. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Shanice Pagan; her grandsons, Bobby O. Johnson and Remy Johnson; one sister-in-law Corrine Martin; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and many dear friends.
