

Charles was born on January 6, 1943, in Shawano, Wisconsin, to Douglas and Katherine Follkie. He grew up in Shawano and then later moved to Chicago, IL. where he enlisted in the Army and was deployed to Vietnam. During his 6-year deployment Charles earned the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. After his return from military service Charles worked as a computer programmer for Honeywell. Later, he became self-employed and was a multi-unit property owner. Later in life he retired and moved to Costa Rica, where he enjoyed the causal and natural wonder of the country.
Charles is remembered for his fluent Spanish, love and ownership of harness racing horse “Winning Andy”, playing tennis and his extensive knowledge of the stock market and coins.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Erika, her husband Brian and his 2 grandson’s Brayden and Kolten Enguita. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Follkie, his mother, Katherine Follkie, his sister, Eloise Campbell.
Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 South Central Avenue, Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453 at a later date. Cremation Private.
