The last 2 days were really hard.  First your birthday on the 2nd and then 4 months since you passed on the 3rd.  I cannot express in words just how much I miss you and mom!!!  It doesn't get any easier and I feel lost.  I love you dad and I am trying my best to go on with my life, but it isn't going very well.  But I will keep trying.  I miss you buddy!!  I love you!!!

Even though you're no longer with me, Dad, the love I have for you hasn’t faded. It’s only grown stronger with time. Dad (My Best Buddy!),

Today is 1 month that you went to be with mom.  It doesn't seem real, none of it seems real.  I still listen for and hear your voice calling for me.  I see things that remind me of you every day.   I know you are no longer suffering from that horrible disease and for that I am happy.  You did not deserve that.  I miss you so much dad.  Please tell mom I miss her so much as well ans that I always and forever will carry you both in my heart and try and make you both proud every second.  I love you both!!!!!

Dad (My Best Buddy!!)

It has been almost 2 weeks since you passed away and I still cannot believe you are gone. I know the last few years were rough, but you sure fought hard and you proved that doctor, who shall remain nameless, wrong by living another 14 months when he said you wouldn't make it past a month or 2.  I hope I never see him again because the things I would say to him would not be very polite.  

Dad thank you for entrusting me with being your medical POA. Every decision I ever made was in your best interest, right up until your last breath.  You and I bonded stronger after mom passed away.  We may have drove each other crazy at times, but our father and son relationship was the best. But your love and friendship were even better!!  Whenever someone tells me I look just like you, I always respond with "that makes me a sexy beast!!"  

I know you are in a much better place now because this world is crazy and getting crazier every day.  You are with mom and all your family and friends who have also passed away.  I know you are watching over all of us down here and I feel safe knowing I have you and mom watching my back. 

I love you Dad.  I miss you so much.  It is never goodbye because you and mom never will leave my heart.  I promise you that.

 Well it’s all over but the missing. That will never end. Not only did Joe take good care of you he planned at great service in your honor. Your blue eyed princess Donna  your other great helper hit a grand slam with her speech.  You had plenty of flowers & lots of family & friends to honor you.  Thank you so much for giving us all the guidance and love a family could ever want. You and Mom ran a tight ship but I understand my brothers and sisters were a bit wild (Ha Ha). I never told you this but all I wanted was to be like you . Who wouldn’t you are DU !! A great dad & man ! Tammy, Pat & I used up all our luck getting you with Mom , cause now we have Donna, Don & Joe. We all love you more and will miss you like crazy.  Love you DAD.   ED.

Thank you for meeting my Mom.   Thank you for being a fun and active Grandpa with Brad & Whitney. They had awesome times with you. Thank you for always being there for me and my brothers & sisters. It was an honor being your physician over the last 10 years.  I missed our conversations and visits the last couple of years but will always remember your gentle, kind and playful demeanor in the office.  You will be missed by all.

When I think of you, and what you loved most about life, it was the Illini, the Cubs, and all of us. It shows a lot about your character because we all had something in common- we kind of sucked. Not all the time (some of us longer than others *cough the Cubs, cough*), but we all definitely had our low points, and you proudly helped us through and stood by us no matter how long it took for us to bounce back. Since you meant so much to me, you were always one of the first people I called with my good news - but also because once I told you, the whole family would know. You shouted out our good news from the rooftops for all to hear, and it made my heart so full to tell you when I got accepted to Illinois, when I was engaged, and when I was pregnant. I will cherish the memories of your reactions forever (and miss not having to call everyone individually since you're not around to do it for me 😉). Thank you for always showing up to every dance recital, gymnastics meet, birthday party, and graduation I've had. You were always there (15 minutes early for easy-in-and out- but there nonetheless). Some of my favorite childhood times were Champaign trips to watch the Illini with you! Those weekends were the best times with you and taught me a good lesson about staying true and loyal through the good and bad times, too (plus watching Schumacher crush everyone just taught me how fun watching football can be). I could list a ton if more memories but just know that you've taught me so much, and I will carry your love, memories, and wisdom with me wherever I go. Love you so much!

It is very difficult to put into words what you meant to me. You were my rock for 55 years and for that I cant thank you enough. You were not only my father but you truly were my best friend. You left us on July 3, 2025 to be with your beloved wife Shirley.  I know you picked that date specifically to watch the Lake Katherine fireworks show that night with mom.  We picked the 11th (10 years to the date of mom's passing) for you to be buried with the love of your life.  

Thank you for being the best dad and friend I could ever ask for.  You meant so much to me that I could never ever in words express it to you.
