Gregg W. Wilson left this world suddenly, and much too soon, April 28th, 2020. Born and raised in Oak Forest, Gregg graduated in 1994 from Oak Forest High School. His life adventures over the last few decades took him to Michigan, Florida, and eventually back to his hometown. Gregg spent time as a roofer, environmental hygienist, and maintenance technician. But he was most proud of his recently-earned Illinois Home Inspector license.
In his lifetime, Gregg had the rare opportunity to see his three favorite professional sports teams win championships: the Bears, White Sox, and his beloved Blackhawks.
Gregg had many father figures in his life, including Jim Zakhar, Charlie Barzycki, and Wayne Adamski, but he was most devoted to his mom, Barb. His big heart was most obvious when doing things for her.
He was baby brother to Eric and favorite sister-in-law, Marla. And he loved to brag about his niece, Allison, whom he adored.
Known as “Willie” to many of his family members he had great childhood memories with cousins Jim Zakhar, Annette Vandergrift, Jenna Russell, Jeff Braun, Andy Braun, and best friend Jake Zakhar. He also benefitted from the love and support of aunts Cheryl Zakhar, Sandy Barzycki, and Jan Braun.
Gregg is joyfully reunited with grandparents, Helen and Bill Wilson, Everett “Buck” Walker, and Kay and Charles “Smiley” Pontius.
A memorial visitation will take place on September 19, 2021 from 1 p.m. until time of memorial service at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 S. Central Ave., Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453.
Due to covid restrictions, there is no food allowed in the funeral home and a mask must be worn at all times.
Thank You.
