Jeanne Simovic

June 27, 1947May 8, 2020

Jeanne Lorraine Simovic (Ray) of Oak Lawn, IL went home to Jesus on May 8, 2020.

Jeanne was born in Chicago, IL on June 27, 1947 to James and Lorraine Ray who preceded her in death. She married her longtime friend and love, Michael Simovic who preceded her in death in 1995.

She will be sorely missed and is survived by her twin sister and her husband, Judy & Gene Griffin, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron & Cathy Simovic; plus nieces/nephews Tammy & Jim Belavich, Krista & Jay Haberkorn, Ronnie Simovic, James & Michelle Simovic, Kelli Gregory, Michael & Staci Griffin and many great nieces and nephews. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

For many years, Jeanne served as a longtime member and worked as Church Secretary at her favorite place, Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Alsip, IL. It was there that she met many of her friends and "family". It suited her servant heart. Jeanne was also a member of the Southwest Lutheran Choir. Her life was a living example of one of her favorite Bible verses, Ephesians 4:32 (Also a VBS song she loved to teach.) "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another just as God also forgave you in Christ."

Jeanne was a kind hearted woman who loved people with all her heart and with an open mind. She loved to make people feel welcome and help those around her. She shared her love by passing along comfort food recipes to her many friends and family.

All who loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, charm, grace and undying love and how she cared for everyone. The memories she made with each and everyone she touched will live on and continue to warm our hearts.

A memorial service will be celebrated when family and friends can gather together once again. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Alsip, IL.

My dear friend Jeanne you were such an inspiration when I first met you. Church and our Lord brought us together to be buddies for each other giving each other support and love throughout all these years we have known each other. You and our son share a birthday so I will
never forget you. I will keep in my heart your smile and laugh knowing now you are happy and whole once again and are with all you love who have gone on before. My heart has lost a piece because you have left earth.

We were childhood friends, our families spend alot of time together. My mother Lorraine and Judy and Jeannes mom were very good friends. My heart goes out to Judy and her family. God bless you. Get ahold of me if you can Judy!

I remember when Jeanne would come to Texas to visit Judy and they would go to church. So many people would talk to her thinking she was Judy. She would just smile. I think she quietly enjoyed the little joke. I enjoyed the times she came to visit. I always got to spend a little time with her and Judy. And yes, I could tell them apart . She will be missed.❤

Our hearts are sadden today but rest knowing our friend is no longer in pain. She watched our oldest son when I had to go back to work. Jeanne was also instrumental in our meeting and getting married. She will be missed but I’m sure she’s giving Mike projects to do. ❤️❤️

We met Jeanne through her twin, Judy. It was amazing how alike these sisters were both inside and out; wonderful women of God and a joy to be around. May God give you peace and comfort and the wonderful Hope of the resurrection.
