Katie J. Velasco

Katie Joanne Velasco, age 37, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024. She is survived by her beloved children: Stella Nicole Velasco and Benjamin Tony Velasco; loving parents: John and Nancy Kinsloe; cherished siblings: Carolyn (Dan) Lenc, Christine (Jim) Jantz and Robert (Lisa Mathew) Kinsloe; dear nieces and nephews: Ellie, Luke and Isla Lenc, and James and Jude Jantz; fond grandfather, John Kinsloe. Katie is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and colleagues.

Preceded in death by her grandmother, Margaret Kinsloe and maternal grandparents: Lois and Leroy Meyer.

Katie is a 2008 graduate from the School of Nursing at St. Xavier University. She was a dedicated labor and delivery nurse at Christ Hospital for over 15 years, delivering thousands of babies to the arms of new parents, many of her friends and family included in that count. Her favorite job in the world was being a Mom, enjoying spa nights with Stella, and snuggling up with Ben reading his favorite stories. We will also remember her as a loving daughter, sister, and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 10th, 2024, at Salem United Church of Christ, 9717 South Kostner Avenue, Oak Lawn, Illinois. All are welcome to join Katie’s Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park, Illinois at 1:30 p.m.
