After blessing this world with her laughter and love, for 79 years, on February 24, 2021, Margarita Johnson was taken home by Christ to accept his promise of eternal life. In heaven she has been reunited with her beloved husband Albert (“Bud”) Johnson. There is no doubt that the two of them are jitterbugging together forever. Marge married Bud in in 1962 and were blessed with a daughter in 1963. They raised their only child, Cindy Marie, in Cicero, Illinois. Margarita is survived by her daughter, Cindy and predeceased by her husband, father and mother Joseph and Estelle Valvoda, her in-laws Albert and Dorothy Johnson, and her sister-in-law Dorrie Johnson.
In addition to managing the household, Marge was devoted to being a Fieldtrip Mom, and Girl Scout assistant leader. After raising her daughter, Marge went back to school and attained an Associates in Arts degree from Morton College in 1985. She made many friends over the years in her bowling leagues. She also loved to garden, sew, embroider, and crochet.
Known as most by Marge, she was born Margarita Josephine Valvoda in Chicago, Illinois, where she spent her early childhood. Her family then moved to Berwyn, Illinois. In her youth, she was an avid ballet dancer and was active in the church teen club. After graduating from Nazareth Academy in 1959, she worked as a bookkeeper.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Cindy Johnson (formerly Seiler), her brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Sally Valvoda, Bud’s sister Pearl Faulk, and Bud’s brother Martin Johnson. She is remembered fondly by the many people whose lives she brightened throughout the years, and, most recently, those at Victory Center of Sierra Ridge in Country Club Hills, Illinois, where she spent her final years serving as vice-president of the resident’s board and energizing everyone with her zest for life.
