Nicholas Aguinaga

Born on July 25, 1930, in Ledyard, Iowa, he lived a life defined by hard work, craftsmanship, and unwavering devotion to his family. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard from 1948 to 1954 before beginning a long career as a union lathe machinist, primarily with Continental Can and Reynolds Aluminum.

Nicholas possessed remarkable skill with his hands and an inventive mind. He found great joy in creating beautiful and meaningful items for those he loved, including plaques, table lamps, toys, metal rings, furniture, and countless other handcrafted gifts that will continue to be treasured by his family for generations.

He was also an avid traveler who never missed an opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories with his family. A devoted dog enthusiast, Nicholas trained Saint Bernards and traveled with his family to dog shows, combining his love of animals with time spent alongside those closest to him.

Above all, Nicholas will be remembered for his immense love and commitment to his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and friends. He had an extraordinarily generous heart and welcomed everyone he met with kindness, warmth, and friendship.

Nicholas is lovingly survived by his children, Carol Rzeszutko (Larry), Helen Morenz (Charles), Nicholas Aguinaga (Lynn), Cindy Aguinaga, Karen Dreher, Jim Aguinaga (Mindy), Joanie Steil (Jeff), Joanne Zervos (Steve), Amy Donohue (Marty), Patricia Estes (Robert), and his sister, Christine Plada. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Aguinaga, his son, David Aguinaga, and son-in-law Mark Dreher.

He also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

Visitation will be held at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 South Central Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453, US, on Monday July 27, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Chapel Service at 10:30am Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home & Cemetery on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 10:30am. Graveside service with Military Honors will follow at 11:30 am.
