Patricia grew up in Hyde Park Chicago and would spend much of her life in Chicago, the near Southwest suburbs and Greece. She was a classically trained pianist and loved to play, dance, have fun and spend time with friends and family. Patricia also worked in the business office at St. Francis Hospital for over 25 years.
Patricia had a life-long love affair with vanilla ice cream, topped with any kind of chocolate, fudge, syrup…sprinkled with nuts. Everyday was fantastic as she truly lived in gratitude as long as it meant that she was hanging out with friends or family. She was a striking woman, with blue-green eyes that each family member would hope for their children, but none inherited. She would outshine all in every photograph with her smile alone. What we will cherish and remember most from her is her positivity and perspective that life is a precious gift to be celebrated as much as possible and not to waste any of it on judgment or complaining because, as she would say, “it could always be worse.”
Patricia will be remembered fondly by family and friends as someone who always gave her best self. She was a loving wife to the late Ioannis Machairas, mother to Nestor Machairas (Late Amy nee Boquist), Pauline Reyes(Vinicio Reyes) an amazing grandmother to Ginia Oviedo(David Muniz), Mario Oviedo(Fallon), John Reyes, and a generous and fun spirited great-grandmother to Anastacia Oviedo, Xol Oviedo Muniz, Athena Oviedo, and Gaia Oviedo Muniz.
We love you momma and super Yiayia
