Ramona Jean Dancer

With heavy hearts and overflowing gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate Ramona Jean Hamilton Dancer. A woman whose life was defined by devotion, generosity, and joy mixed with a little stubborn feistiness, passed from this life leaving a legacy of love that will continue to echo through the hearts of all who knew her. Ramona was born on June 24, 1952 to parents Barbara Weathers and Raymond Hamilton. Raised in Princeton Park, she attended Frank L. Gillespie Elementary and Harlan High School. Some years later, attained an Associates of Liberal arts from Dominican University. Through her educational years, lifelong relationships developed and love for learning as well. You could regularly encounter her sitting, fixed in a book, and thumb in mouth.

On February 11, 1972, Ramona Jean went to the chapel and got married! She was joined in union to Isaac Dancer Jr and raised 6 children. She was a mother first and always — fiercely dedicated to her children, guiding them with tenderness, strength, and an unwavering belief in their potential. Her family was her greatest pride, and she poured her entire spirit into nurturing, protecting, and uplifting them with an occasional barb. Ramona had a gift for helping others. Whether through a listening ear, a thoughtful gesture, or simply showing up when someone needed her most, she carried a quiet yet vocal ministry of compassion everywhere she went. She believed in people, even in their hardest seasons, and she gave of herself freely without expecting anything in return except something in return.

On July 16, 2026, Ramona Jean passed yet was greeted by our Heavenly Father and her husband Isaac. She was reunited her parents and numerous family and friends. She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory, honor her example, and continue to live out the love she taught them; six children - Nichole, Germaine, Brittania, Katrina, Isaac III, and Joshua; twelve grandchildren – Tristan, Katherine, NaeKhaiah, Abriana, JaJuan(deceased), Aren Renae, Brianna, Hezekiah, Devaun, Kendall, Tristan, Nicolette, Jeremiah; seven great-grandchildren – Alykzander, Kharron, Mariana, Jacob, Tristan Jr, Troy, and Trinity. As well as an astronomical number of family and friends. Though her earthly journey has ended, Ramona’s impact remains — in the lives she touched, the hearts she lifted, and the joy she spread so naturally.

Her presence will be deeply missed, but her light will never fade.

A Morning Visitation will be held at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5472 S Kimbark Ave, Chicago, IL on August 3, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5472 S Kimbark Ave, Chicago, IL on August 3, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Burial will be private.
