Richard A. Cappetta of Orland Park, IL passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the age of 67. He was born on July 17, 1949 in Chicago, IL, the son of Pasquale & Gertrude (Ellinger) Cappetta. Rick grew up in Chicago and graduated from Bogan High School in 1967. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s from Elmhurst College. He enjoyed going to his summer cottage in Buchanan, MI both as a teenager with his parents and then later on when he had children of his own. He loved spending time with family and friends in the boat, swimming in the lake or just sitting on the deck eating fresh fruit. When he wasn’t at the cottage he spent most of his free time in the garage or working on projects around the house. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking/baking, reading the latest Stephen King novel and watching his favorite Chicago teams. An excellent teacher, Rick taught all five kids, his nephews and numerous friends how to drive, waterski and live life to the fullest. No matter the obstacles, Rick always stayed positive and approached life as an adventure.
Rick is survived by his loving partner of 12 years, Loretta Jackson; two children, Christine (Jon) Bayer, Steve (Laura) Cappetta; three step-children, Dominique, Alessia & Darrion Jackson; four grandchildren, Colin & Annika Bayer, Nicholas & Timothy Cappetta; one brother, David (Maarja Roth) Cappetta; one sister, Denise (Gary) Smith; and four nieces and nephews, Katja and Anthony Cappetta and Sam and Matt Smith.
