Sandrine Tshutshu Bopeya Bilambo

Sandrine Tshutshu Bopeya Bilambo, born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and was a resident of Hickory Hills, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Sandrine was a loving, kind, compassionate, and strong woman whose greatest joy was her family. She had a beautiful heart and a generous spirit, and she had a special gift for bringing family and loved ones together. Her warmth, laughter, love, and presence touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was the beloved daughter of John-Bells and Albertine (née Basosila) Bilambo.

Sandrine leaves behind the love of her life, her devoted husband of 36 years, Bongunga Thierry Bopeya. Their life together was a beautiful testament to love, commitment, and family. She was also a loving and devoted mother to her beautiful children: Yohan Nkumu, Yanni Mpeya, Yedidiah Myoto, and Yohali Paoni. Her children were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She will also be deeply missed by her beloved siblings, Martine, Lydie, Tina, Francis, Olivier, Thierry, Serge, Bobo, and Yves, as well as her many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Sandrine was also a devout Christian, and her faith was near and dear to her heart. She found comfort, strength, and peace in her relationship with God. Through prayer, she remained grounded and hopeful, trusting in God and drawing strength from her faith throughout her life. Her faith was a source of comfort not only to her, but also to those around her.

Sandrine found joy in many of life’s simple pleasures. She loved gardening, cooking, watching Korean shows, traveling, watching movies, shopping, and fashion. She had a wonderful sense of style and enjoyed expressing herself through fashion. Traveling gave her the opportunity to create beautiful memories and experience new places, especially with the people she loved most. One of her recent treasured memories was a trip to Puerto Rico with her daughters, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The time spent together, the laughter, the experiences, and the memories they created will remain a precious part of their lives and a lasting reminder of the love they shared.

Sandrine was a registered nurse, a profession that reflected her caring heart and desire to help others. Through her work, she devoted herself to caring for people with compassion, patience, and kindness. Her dedication to nursing was another expression of the love and generosity that defined her life.

Those who knew Sandrine will remember her for her kindness, loving nature, strength, and unwavering devotion to the people she loved. Even through her courageous journey with breast cancer, she continued to demonstrate remarkable strength and courage.

Though her earthly journey has come to an end, Sandrine’s love will continue to live on through her husband, children, parents, siblings, family, and friends. The memories she created, the love she gave, and the lives she touched will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A funeral service to celebrate a life well lived will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at
