I grew up with Tommy Dobbertin and I was able to visit with him a couple of times after college, but then I lost contact with him.  I just learned, today, that he died in 2018 and it makes me very sad.  Tommy was one of the nicest kids that I knew as a child. He was an athlete, and  tough kid. I could not beat him in  our junior high wrestling matches on the lawn, but he was also a very funny, gentle person.  I was there, I think, in 7th grade, when he met is future wife, Cheryl Stevenson.  She lived a block from my parent's home on 6241 West 80th Street, Burbank, Illinois.  They were so much in love with each other that they stayed together until his death. I think it was 1962 when they started dating?  I will miss Tommy and I have very happy  memories of him when we were children.
