Barbara was born on June 7, 1930, in Melrose Park, Illinois to Edgar and Adeline Haack. She graduated from Proviso High School in 1948. After graduation, she worked as a secretary for Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. Barbara married Charles H. Wilson on September 15, 1950, and lived in Chicago until they moved to Lake in the Hills in 1957. Barbara was a telephone dispatcher for the Lake in the Hills Police Department and was a children’s daycare provider in her home for several years. She became a medical secretary and office manager for Doctors Hillstrom, Bryant, Wall, and Patel in Crystal Lake, Illinois. She worked for Advocate Health System until her retirement in 2002. Barbara was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake.
Barbara loved traveling the world and visited over 40 countries. She also enjoyed bowling, camping, and spending time with her family and her pets.
The family of Barbara wish to extend their love and gratitude to Brandon and Brittany Connelly, Barbara’s grandchildren for their extreme dedication of fulfilling Barbara’s wishes to be cared for in her home until her passing.
Barbara is survived by her three children, daughter Deborah (Mike) Connelly, son Terry (Kathy) Wilson, and daughter Elena (Tim) Popp, and by her 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, sister Beverly Muell, and brother-in-law, Norbert Muell.
Friends and family will gather for a visitation on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023, from 10am to 12pm at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17W201 East Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois 60181. Interment is private.
