Camfield K. Ip, 92 (1934-2026), passed away on May 31, 2026. Beloved Husband of Martha (Wu) for a loving 59 years. Devoted Father of Gigi (David) Ip McGovern and Chin-Chin Minniear. Proud Grandfather of Madeleine and Jacqueline McGovern, and Jedidiah and Joelle Minniear. Loving Son of the late Chi Cheong and Yuen Ying. Dear Brother of Kam Chuen and the late Sau Hing.
Cam was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to Canada. He attended Loyola College in Montreal before transferring to Northeast Missouri State University, where he studied Accounting and Business Administration. While at Northeast Missouri State, he met Martha, a fellow student. Cam was a handsome young man, but what set him apart was his sincerity. Early in their relationship, he told Martha that he was not someone of means; in fact, Cam came from an extremely poor background and was always grateful for even the little things. He was generous all his life and would invite people whom he barely knew, such as a salesperson at the store or the mechanic from the body shop, to have dinner in their home.
Professionally, Cam was a comptroller and a treasurer at various companies, and he ultimately retired in 1999 as the deputy city treasurer and assistant finance director for the City of Aurora. Although he specialized in business, he enjoyed geography, history, and physics; he also loved cooking, but he really loved eating! Cam was very athletic when he was young and played soccer, ping pong, and basketball. He was also fond of hiking and swimming, which he continued to do until he was 89! He liked to dance and showed off his cha-cha skills during the father/daughter dance at Gigi’s wedding.
Cam lived a very full life and was well loved. His family and friends will miss him dearly and remember him warmly.
