Carl R. Cortesi, 86, of Westchester, Illinois, passed away on January 31st, 2024 after a battle with respiratory illness. Carl was born on November 20th, 1938 to Frank and Margaret Cortesi in Chicago, Illinois.
After graduating from Austin High School in 1957, he landed his first job as a meat cutter apprentice for Dominick's Food Stores, kicking off a 60 year career. In 1965, he met Dorothy Vlasek, and they wed on February 12th, 1966, going on to have 3 children- Patrick, Mark, and Jennifer. Carl loved working and providing for his family. He was an avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan. He loved fishing, golfing and cooking.
After retirement, he loved doting on his grandchildren Dimitri, Lexi, and Sophia. Carl loved to give giant bear hugs and pancakes. He loved the color yellow and yellow tulips. He loved gardening and watching the birds. He was loud and funny, and fun to be around. Carl was the oldest of five brothers. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Margaret Cortesi; his brothers Thomas, Frank, Jr., Leonard and Robert; his first wife Dorothy Cortesi; and his second wife Roxanna. He is survived by his spouse Barbara, his children Patrick (Susan), Mark (Brynn), and Jennifer (James), his step-son Brian Ormanic (Christine), and grandchildren Nicholas, Angelo, Dimitri, Lexi, and Sophia, along with many nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
