

Celestino Montilla passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 24, 2023, at the age of 92. Born in the Philippines to Mateo Reyes Montilla and Abdona Avis Montilla, Celestino's life was marked by his dedication to his country and his unwavering commitment to his family and friends.
Celestino's legacy as a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Beloved husband of Matilde Montilla, he is survived by their three children: Joe, Frank (Rita), and Carlos (Ann). His grandchildren, Levi, Kathy, Sadie, Lily, and great grandson Rowen, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment with them. Celestino is also survived by his dear sisters, Carmelita Terez, Luz Lagasca, and Jessica Montilla, who shared a lifetime of memories and love with him.
A proud Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Navy, Celestino served multiple tours in Vietnam, demonstrating immense courage and sacrifice for his nation. His dedication to duty and honor was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Celestino was not only a military hero but also a hero in the eyes of his family and friends. He possessed a rare warmth and generosity that endeared him to everyone he met. He welcomed others with open arms and a kind heart, making them feel valued and loved. His legacy of kindness and warmth will continue to touch the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A funeral service to honor Celestino's life will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home in Oakbrook Terrace, IL from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Following the service, a Celebration of Life Gathering will take place at the Preserve At Cantera, 30000 Village Green Blvd, Warrenville, IL 60555 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, where family and friends can come together to share memories and celebrate the wonderful life of this humble man.
