Sorry to hear about your Dad he was a real good man that I am sure will be missed dearly.

I will always remember Dan as (LITTLE DANNY WHITE DUCK) walking or ridng his bike, His hair was white as milk., like a baby duck with is feathers. Will miss you Dan. I have so many memories of grandpa but the best one I can remember is one day he pucked me up from school in his blue truck and we went to the moose and he was drinking his beer and buying me kitty cat cocktails and all the times at the campgrounds he taught me many things I will miss him very much its still hard to believe hes gone

Dearest Dan
Father figure, broyher figure,best friend. i lived with Dan and Noney for a time when I was younger. Started driving truck and dan went with on the road at times. i got him to drive a large car.  When I would come to the Chicago area and tired on a deadline I would call Dan up and they would come meet me and Dan would drive to Detroit while I slept. A few times we would run cross country. Dan was always there if I needed something. Dan will always be in my heart and mind . PAPPY

dad there are so many things i could say when I was wrong you let me have it. But then you would help me fix it  I owe you who I am  no matter how many times I mess up you would lite into me   BUT IT WAS YOU WHO WOULD HELP ME GET GOING AGAIN  love you and thank for being you always in my heart   love you

My dad was a stern but a loving man He would tell you what you did wrong and could also make you laugh harder than anyone.
 1 of my best memories of dad is when I graduated high school he looked at me and said I love you and I'm proud of you.

I have very fond memories of Uncle Dan and the camping trips we used to take when I was younger.  I will never forget those great pies Aunt Ramona and Uncle Dan used to make over the camp fire. Those days are some of my best memories.  Dan, you will be missed and sorry I can't be there for the services. Love, Donna

Our condolences to all of the Schuning family - great neighbors for the past 25 years and always looking out for us.  One very snowy night when Tony was working overnights, Dan started plowing our driveway just because - he had a great big smile on his face when I thanked him and he said 'hey, that's what neighbors are for'.  He will be missed.

grandpa, i will never forget you. I dont know who will do the "grandpa test" now that you have gone. I will miss you so much. I love you and never forget our campfires, pie and giggles. When i graduate nursing school in 15 days grandpa, I will look up and  say see i did it grandpa- just like what you always wanted.

I love you grandpa! You were the closest thing to a father I had, and the only grandpa. You will be missed! I'm glad you got to meet my son and walk me down the aisle. Always remembered

Aunt Mona, cousins and family: Words can not express the sadness I feel.  Uncle Danny meant the world to me.  He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.  He always had a smile, a joke to tell and brought sunshine on a cloudy dad.  I remember all the famly birthday's, christmas' and special occasions...he was the one behind the ole' movie camera catching all the moments. He was the one with the teenagers pitching horseshoes, jarts etc. He was so young at heart. I could go on and on with all the memories and I will miss him sooo much. Trips to Illinois just won't be the same with out him! RIP Uncle Danny...I love you and will always be your "Bertha Butt"!

My childhood memories of Mr Schuning calling me Bippy longstockings and his way of getting everyone around him to smile and laugh will always be etched in my heart and mind. His time here is gone, but he is in such a better place.

i have alot of good memorys of dan.and got to meet my daughter and like him too,,,we will miss you.probally up there talking to my dad.it was always nice to see him at the campground.

Dan always told the following Joke:
I have been married 2-3-4 times depending on the occasion.
I married a nice young girl
Then I was married to Mama
Then I was married to Grandma
And finally married to Great Grandma
Well he just finished it!
He made me a widow! 
But He will always be my HUSBAND!

Uncle Dan gave me many things. One of many was the BEST time I ever had in my life. You took Grandma and i, along with all your family to the black hills, wind cave, and mount rushmore. I will always remember the many thing you gave and did for me. Thank you for all the memories....I will never forget and always love you.

i remember dan picking on me through our childhood and into adulthood but he could always make me snile i will miss that love dan youre at peace

 It is hard to believe that my brother Dan is gone. When we visited him last Wednesday, he teased and joked like his old self. He reminisced about watching me disappear, down the road on my horse, not to be seen until sometime in the evening. Then there was all the times he took me to DeKalb so we could roller skate, with my sister Mary, even in an ice storm, when we almost skidded into a ditch. He pushed me onto the floor, while steering the car out of trouble. 
 I know he is in peace now and will not suffer any longer, but he will be missed by friends and family.
