It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel Muellner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this world on July 24, 2025, just shy of his 88th birthday. Born on July 30, 1937, in Chicago, IL, Daniel lived a life marked by love, service, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Daniel was the cherished son of John and Theresa (Fritz) Muellner, who instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and humor—qualities that would define his life. He was a proud graduate of Weber High School and, as a young adult served honorably in the Army, shaping his character and commitment to his country.
In the tapestry of his life, Daniel is known as the devoted husband of Dorothy, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Their love was a testament to partnership and shared dreams, and together they raised three remarkable daughters: Michele (James) Pelafas, Pamela Muellner, and Valerie (Peter) Brossard. Daniel's legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Amanda (Ryan), Estelle, Eve, Wade, Luke, and Christine, who brought him immense joy and pride. He was also an Uncle to many nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored.
Daniel was an active member of his community, serving as Past Post Commander of the Broadview-Hillside American Legion Post 626 and a Past Grand Knight of St. Domitilla Knight’s of Columbus Assumption Council. His dedication to service was matched only by his love for sports and his ever-popular "Dad jokes," which brought laughter to all who knew him. He had an extraordinary ability to connect with people, sharing his vast knowledge of sports while always finding a way to bring a smile to their faces.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John (Irene) Muellner, Dorothy (Robert) Borta, and Diane (Robert) Brandt.
A celebration of Daniel's life will take place on July 30, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home & Cemetery, 17W201 Roosevelt Road Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.
