

Debra (Debi) Sue Scolaro (nee Balfanz), age 69, a lifetime resident of Forest Park passed away at her home on Friday July 11, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband August A. Scolaro; her parents Harold & Imogene (Gene) Balfanz, her Grandson Joshua Jurkovic and nephew Michael J. Bates.
Debi and Gus married in 1974 and resided in Forest Park where they raised, their four children, Cari, Anthony, Andrew and Carin. Together and with help from family they ran West End Meat Market/Gussie’s Deli in Forest Park. She loved caring for kids and was like a second mom/grandma to many. You could find her at the ball fields helping run the Woman’s Auxiliary for the Forest Park Little League when the kids were young, on field trips as a chaperone or in the classroom as room mom as well as many other roles. Debi loved to sew, crochet, knit, cross stitch and many other crafts. What she was most proud of was being a mom and later becoming a Nana.
She is survived by her children Cari (Jim) Jurkovic, Anthony (Alyson) Scolaro, Andrew Scolaro and Carin Scolaro. Her grandchildren Abigail, Jacob, Anthony Jr. and Luca. Her sisters Nancy (Lamar) Violet and Ellen (Dennis) Bates, Aunt Ruby Bigbee, Uncle Marvin Sanders, cousins, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at Chapel Hill Garden West Funeral Home 17w201 Roosevelt Rd.Oakbrook Terrace, IL on Friday July 18, 2025 10:00-12:00 pm with chapel and funeral services to follow immediately.
