Eddie Poe Sr., 84, passed away April 30, 2018. Beloved husband of Chris Anaya, loving father of daughters Lynette Austin, Phyllis (Walter) Harris, and Catherine Mays; sons Eddie Jr., Maurice, and Philip A. Poe, stepsons Bryan (Christine) and Michael (Christi) Anaya. Cherished grandfather of Cheryl and Antonio Butler, Jessica Harris, Darnell and Michael “The Wrong Brothers” Mays, Tikiea, Laminta, LaTachia, Tyra, Marlin “Red” and Philip E. Poe, Todd, Cameron, Amanda, and Jacob Anaya. Twenty-seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, neighbors and friends. Loving brother of J.T. and Gracie Poe. He is proceeded in death by his parents Ivory and Allie B. Poe and his siblings James, Dorothy, Ivory, and John Henry. Eddie worked as a Business Agent for the Central States Joint Board (AFL-CIO) for 30 years and was a member and officer of the Chicago Southside Branch of the NAACP for many years. Visitation will be on Friday, May 4, 2018, from 3:00 to 8:00pm, at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17W201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois 60181. His funeral service will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 10:00am, burial services immediately following at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
