EDWARD DVORSKY Jr.

Edward Dvorsky, Jr. age 89, died at home in Oak Brook, Illinois, Saturday, July 27, 2019. Edward was born in Chicago on July 4th, 1930. He is a graduate of J. Sterling Morton High School in Cicero. He earned his bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering at the University of Illinois. Following graduation, he worked for Matheson in Niagara Falls, NY until being drafted into the US Army during the Korean War. Edward served at the Edgewood Arsenal in Maryland and was stationed outside Wiesbaden, West Germany. After leaving the service, he married Arlyne (nee Tichy) on March 17, 1956. At the time, he worked for Visking Corporation in Chicago. Ed eventually went back to school to earn an MBA at the University of Chicago. That led to a position with Zenith Corporation where he progressed to be the plant manager of the Rauland division in Melrose Park. He then held corporate engineering positions until he retired in 1994. His retirement was spent on a number of golf courses, at Illini bowl games (though it has been a while) and on the beach at Marco Island, Florida.

Visitation will be Thursday, Aug 1, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home 17W201 Roosevelt Rd., Oakbrook Terrace. Funeral services will be Friday, Aug 2, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home with final interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the American Diabetic Association (www.diabetes.org) or the American Heart Association(www.heart.org).

Edward was very involved in the Oak Brook community as an active member of the Oak Brook Civic Association. He also spent many years coaching Little League baseball and serving as Treasurer and then President of the Oak Brook Little League. Edward was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the American Chemical Society. Edward was a long time supporter of the University of Illinois athletics and the Chemical Engineering department.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward, and Anna (nee Komestik) Dvorsky, Sr., and his nephew, Wayne Knott.

Edward is survived by his wife, Arlyne, daughter: Cynthia Ann Dvorsky-Cleeton and son: Edward Frank Dvorsky married to Peggy (nee Roessler) Dvorsky. He also has two granddaughters: Nicole Elizabeth-Ann Cleeton and Haley Marie Cleeton, and a grandson, Matthew Aaron Cleeton married to Kendra Ann (nee Grant) Cleeton, as well as his great granddaughter, Emma Lilliana Cleeton. Edward is also survived by one nephew; Frank Tichy married to Janet nee Hanson; and one niece; Laurel Ann (nee Knott) Kostuck, married to Gary Kostuck.
