

Eugene (Gene) Manley, 97, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 11, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. A long time resident of Lombard, IL, Gene was born on March 27, 1927 in Elgin, IL where he was a local H.S. basketball star. A World War II Navy Veteran, his primary passions in life were his family and friends, as well as an avid golf enthusiast.
Of particular importance to Gene was his involvement in the Masonic Order where he was a long standing member of the Scottish Rite (Chicago) and Medinah Shriners (Chicago) where he was a member of the Military Unit and Royal Order of Jesters and a dedicated supporter of the Shriners Childrens Hospital (Chicago).
Gene is survived by his beloved companion Carol Schelli, loving step-sons Tom Manley and Joe Valrose (Nancy), grandchildren Jaclyn Garrett (Jamie) and Mark Valrose (Maggie) and great grandchildren Abby, Ryan, Owen and Emma, his sister Betty Klink and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation for Eugene that will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17W201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
A private interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Shriners Children’s Hospital (Chicago).
