Gloria E. Azarcon

It is with deep sorrow and grateful hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Gloria Espiritu Azarcon, age 84, long time resident of Woodridge, Illinois, who went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2026, peacefully and surrounded by her loving family.

Gloria was born on May 21, 1942, in Manila, Philippines, to her loving parents, Ireneo Cupano Espiritu and Soledad Tabliga Espiritu. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, beloved sister, and dear friend.

Gloria was a proud graduate of MLQ University, Philippines, Class of 1967, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Law. Shortly after, she met the Love of her Life, Jaime P. Azarcon. They happily married on June 24, 1967. They shared a loving marriage until Jaime's passing in 2014.

In 1970, Gloria and Jaime migrated to the United States with their children, Joann and John. Two years later, their family was blessed with their son, James Joseph.

From humble beginnings, Gloria and Jaime worked hard to build a loving home and a better future for their family. Throughout her career, she worked in Human Resources at Brach's Candy, as an Accounting Clerk at Prudential and MTI Vacations, and later served as a Lead Clerk with the United States Postal Service for 22 years after retiring in 2005.

Gloria loved dancing and traveling. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing with her father during special occasions. She and Jaime continued to dance together at gatherings in the United States. She also treasured traveling with her husband and children and creating lasting family memories.

Gloria and Jaime were proud of their Filipino heritage and were involved with several Filipino organizations, including the Nueva Ecija Organization, Fil-Am Filipino Association, Filipino Friendship Association, and Ladies of the Orient. They enjoyed fellowship, preserving their culture by sharing it with their children, and serving their community.

Gloria was a woman of faith and attended Christ Church Oak Brook. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Gloria leaves behind her children, Joann Iresol Azarcon Cardoso and her husband, Jorge Luis Cardoso; John Jay Azarcon and his wife, Julie Anne Naling Azarcon; and James Joseph Azarcon, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Jayson Julian Naling Azarcon, Jana Alyssa Naling Azarcon, Jaelyn Jordan Penaflor Azarcon, Jazelyn Jazel Penaflor Azarcon, and Lorenzo John Azarcon Canino.

She is also lovingly remembered by her stepmother, Rosario Dellosa Espiritu, and her sister Charito Espiritu Leopold and her husband, John Bernard Leopold. She was preceded in death by her siblings Aurora Espiritu Serevo and her husband, Leopoldo Serevo; Liwliwa Espiritu Quemada and her husband, Raoul Quemada; and Lawag Espiritu and his wife, Lydia Songsong Espiritu.

Gloria's love, strength, laughter, faith, and joyful spirit will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will remain forever in our hearts.
