With heavy hearts and great sorrow, we announce the passing of Joyce Kegl on September 7, 2026. She will be forever remembered for her deep love, selflessness, and a lifelong dedication to her family.
Joyce is survived by her husband and best friend Jim. Her greatest joy was her family. She was an amazing mother to her children: Jon (Kat) Thomas, Kate (Kevin) Johnson, Kristen (Nick) Perez, Jimmy Kegl, and Michael (Terri) Kurcab.
As a deeply devoted Nana and Gigi, Joyce greatly treasured her grandchildren. She poured boundless love, patience, and hugs into the lives of Avery, Ian, Thomas, Kaili, Brandon, Jack, Olivia, Alexandria, Tyler, and Matthew, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
She is remembered by her brothers and sisters: Jim (Carol) Hurckes, Judie (the late Ron) Tatka, Jerry (MaryAnn) Hurckes, Joe (Laurie) Hurckes, and June (Dom) DiNardo. Joyce also leaves behind a legacy as a cherished aunt to her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will miss her dearly.
Joyce was reunited in death with her beloved parents, Jim and Bonnie Hurckes, and her brothers, Jack (Anita) Hurckes and Jeff Hurckes. She was also preceded by her cherished niece, Megan Hurckes, son-in-law, Aaron Buckley, mother-in-law Rose Kegl, and brother-in-law Ron Tatka.
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Joyce’s life on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 310 S. Wheaton Ave, Wheaton, IL. A visitation will be held in the church Narthex at 9:30 AM, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in honor of Joyce to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. (themmrf.org)
