

Karin de Ocampo (Hemmerle), passed away on July 21, 2026 at the age of 75. Devoted Mother of Samantha-Leilani (Herb Matthew) Teeter and Desiree (Francisco) Garcia. Beloved Wife of Samuel de Ocampo for 20 years. Proud Grandma of Joshua, Noah, and Isaac Teeter; and Mia, Junior, and Jacob Garcia. Loving Daughter of the late Albert Hans and Anna Marie Hemmerle. Dear Sister-in-Law, Aunt, and Cousin of many.
Her calling to care for others extended far beyond her home. She devoted her life to the nursing profession, building a distinguished career marked by compassion, excellence, and leadership. She retired as Divisional Director of Nursing at Cook County Hospital, a testament to her professionalism, wisdom, and commitment to providing exceptional care.
Karin had a special gift for nurturing life, whether in her garden or in the hearts of those around her. She delighted in planting flowers, tending her garden, and watching each season unfold in beautiful color. Her yard reflected her spirit—welcoming, vibrant, and full of life.
Above all, Karin cherished her family. She loved deeply, gave selflessly, and celebrated life’s everyday moments with those she held dear. Her wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love created a legacy that will continue to guide and inspire future generations.
Karin’s memory will live on in every blooming flower, every act of kindness, and every moment when faith carries us through life’s greatest challenges.
A visitation for Karin will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a funeral service immediately following at 6:00 p.m.
Services will take place at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17W201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.
