
Kenneth “Ken” A. Lindstrom, 65, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, formerly of Joliet, Illinois, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri surrounded by his family after a courageous fight with Covid-19. Ken was born on December 14, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Kenneth and Marie Lindstrom Sr. who preceded him in death.
Ken married Edna Markham on April 21, 1979. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2012. They were blessed with three daughters. He was survived by three daughters Jennifer Lindstrom of Crest Hill, Illinois, Kimberly (Matt) Ptacek of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, and Rebecca (Robert) McKelvey of Warrenville, Illinois; six grandchildren Peyton, Morgan, Gwendolyn, Alexander, Carson, and Oliver.
Ken worked for Ford for more than 40 years and served as a parts manager for more than 20 years at Rod Baker Ford in Plainfield, Illinois. He retired from Chicago Parts and Sound in January of 2021.
Ken was a member of Newark Sportsman Club for numerous years, having served as a Trap Chairman and also served on the board of directors before moving to Missouri. He volunteered his time as a Hunters Education and Safety Instructor for 16 years, teaching 53 classes and certifying over 1,684 students. He enjoyed teaching these classes almost as much as he did deer and pheasant hunting.
Ken loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and teaching them about his hobbies including firearms, tractors, and antique cards. Some of the grandchildren’s favorite memories are: being a human jungle gym- Peyton; weekly family dinners- Morgan; going to Papa’s house for Christmas- Gwen; going to the Sandwich County Fair – AJ; when Papa let everyone sit in his fancy car (Model A) – Carson; making our own fireworks display on July 4th- Oliver.
A visitation will occur Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 17w201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181. A memorial service for Ken will be held Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home. Ken will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
