Born on July 21, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, Mary was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian Swan and the beloved sister of Michael and Marie Swan.
Mary was married to the late Alberto S. Cavazos for 64 years. Together, they built a loving family and a lifetime of memories.
Mary is survived by her children, Darlene Hollis (Roy), Albert (Joan), Kathy Cavazos-Lee (Daniel), Michael, Robert (Donna), Paul (Sarah), and Brian, (Gina); her grandchildren, Roy Jr., Jennifer, Anthony (Laura), Gina, Adam (Michelle), Michael Jr., Joshua (Myriam), Tyler (Samantha), Amber (Iy), Ryan (Sarah), Matthew, Stephanie, Kevin, and Joey (Bella); and her great-grandchildren, Sterling, Maverick, Olivia, Kaleigh, Stefen, Myles, Mindy, Andy, Sammy and Rayce, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mary loved her family deeply and was always the first to offer her time and talent to give a helping hand. She especially loved cooking and entertaining, and her famous potato salad was a family favorite that will continue to be made in her honor.
Mary was always willing to volunteer and help wherever she was needed. Her family fondly remembers wonderful trips to Wisconsin in the Vista Cruiser wagon, as well as the many years she volunteered to transport children to church camp.
Mary will be remembered as being tough as nails while still holding warm energy for those around her. She taught her family the importance of compassion, hard work, and to always have respect for one another and for others. These lessons and values will continue through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for generations to come.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was always happy to watch the little ones. She especially enjoyed being surrounded by her family at Christmas, when having everyone together brought her great joy.
Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
