I Julia Morales am Pilsen resident all my life when I received my first check of $62.51 I was 12 yrs old I had no one to cash it but my father Trinidad Morales, knew Nick he worked at 1515 S BlueIsland Cold storage building. Nick told me stories about his youth and he told me “Listen kiddo I will cash your check only if you give your parents part of it he explained to me he did it with his Mom and if I learn to give to them I will grow up and will always have money in my pocket. That day we began a beautiful friend relationship I am 62 yrs old now and I never forgot his advice I have been blessed with good jobs all my life and I always gave to my parents until the end. May they all Rest in peace 

My Deepest condolences to the  Lombardi family May Nick rest in peace I have many memories with him. But this one stands out when I turned 12 years old I worked part time in a factory I got paid $63 dollars I had no bank account then but I needed to cash that check I went to the store and Nick cashed it for me and told me listen ‘ kiddo I will cash your check but I want to give you a word of advice you give your parents half of your check and you will always be blessed. I took that advice and I have harbored it in my heart all my life I am 61 yrs old now . I teach that to my nieces and nephews and to any young person who wants to listen. Many other memories he was such a giver to my parents May he rest in Peace . So sorry for the late condolences I just found out a little while ago he will be missed Julia Morales and family.

I worked for Nick during my high school years at his store in Pilsen.  This picture was taken this April went I stopped by to say hello.  I’ll never forget Nick. God bless him.

Uncle Nick's kindness  and generosity allowed several of his nieces and nephews the chance to continue their education. I will never forget how much that meant to me and my family. 
No matter how busy he was, his phone calls to my mother to see how all the kids and grandkids are doing showed how much family meant to him.

My sincerest condolences to the Lombardi Family. I am truly sorry to hear about the passing of Nick. 

My mom Lupe, spent 46 years working for Nick at La Casa and she will forever be indebted to him for everything he did for her and our family. Personally, I wouldn’t be where I am today without his guidance and the lessons he taught me growing up. Nick and his family always treated me like family.  He was one-of-a-kind and he will definitely be missed. I was blessed to have him in my life.

I had heard of Nick before I met him, so when we met in late spring early summer of 1980 , I was a little apprehensive, tough gruff and direct.  We were going to do a big new expanded Fiesta del Sol!
It would have a big stage that would have loud music and at the other end a big carnival with rides galore.  He puffed and growled and yelled, but at the end the soft side, he always had it also, agreed.  This went on for a few years until I became aldermen and agreed to change it to Cermak.
Then as alderman we got closer and every once in a while I have my huevos rancheros and o would listen to him and he would listen to me and we’d discuss politics , life in general, family sometimes we’d laugh and sometimes complain especially about health.
God Bless you Nick, you were a great man. A friend and God is going to love to hear your stories!

He was a great man that lived to help others and a huge mentor in my life.  Nick was one of the toughest, yet kindest man i have ever known. Over the past 14 years he not only help but inspired me.

He was and always will  be a part of my family including Mrs. Lombardi ,  Lisa, Nicky and Vincent. I literally I mean literally grew up with that family. Sorry for your pain but wanted to  shared your father was greatly loved and loved by me as well



My dad knew Nick for 50 years. I knew Nick for 40 years. He helped us personally and in business through the years at south water market. I also worked for the Anthony Marano Co. Nick is the reason I was able to meet with the Marano's and be a part of their team. He always saw the bigger picture and was always willing to stick his neck out to help other people. 
He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. 

A great man that  helped me many times.

Rose Marie and family- You are in our thoughts and prayers this day. Nick was always so kind to the staff members of the Illinois Food Retailers Association. During his visits to the IFRA office to drop off the vendor coupons, Nick would take time to visit with  staff.  How we enjoyed our conversations! It was always interesting to get his take on the grocery industry, politics and life in general. He loved his friends in the industry, he was very proud of the La Casa Del  Pueblo Company and above anything else, he loved and cherished you. Nick has finished his journey on earth. - and now shares eternal life with all his loved ones who preceded him in death.  God bless you.
