Renato B. Imana

Dr. Renato Imana, beloved father and husband, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on May 16th, 2017. Born on June 21, 1936 in La Paz Bolivia he emigrated to Chicago in 1965. Renato touched many lives both personally and professionally through his love, kindness and generosity. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by us all.

Renato is survived by his beloved wife, Gaby; family, Renato, Marinela, Valerie, Gabriela and Nelson, Jim, Dan, Yvon as well as his many grandchildren, relatives and friends.

1964 M.D. Bachelor del Colegio Bolivar de la ciudad de La Paz en la Universidad San Andres La Paz, Bolivia

One year at the Service of Neurology and Neurosurgeon at the Hospital Obrero in La Paz.

1965-67 Assistant of Surgery at Little Company of Mary Hospital and Belmont Community Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

1967 After obtaining his Medical Certificate continue at the Illinois Masonic Hospital and Hines VA Hospital at the University of Illinois in Chicago until 1972.

1970 Completed the FLEX exam in 1970 at the department of Neurosurgery at Cook County Hospital in Chicago until 1973.

1973-97 Attending Neurological Surgeon, Glen Ellyn Clinic, Glen Ellyn, Illinois

1973 Attending Neurological Surgeon, Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield Illinois

1975 - Specialization in Microsurgery and Anastomosis of the arterial cerebral for the treatment of cerebral vascular accidents under Professor Gazy Yazargil in Zurich, Switzerland.

1979 - Transsphenoidal Hypophysectomy training under Professor Gerald Guiot in Paris France.

True American Fund for Bolivia - Sent medical supplies to the public hospitals in Bolivia for 10 years.

Organized several medical meetings and missions in Bolivia from 1975 to 1995.

Donated, Organized and Implemented (with own funds) the Pediatric Neurosurgical service at the Children Hospital in La Paz, Bolivia 1987. Since then hundreds of cases have been performed every year.

Initiated a donation with the Bolivian American Medical Society, 90,OOO/lbs of medical supplies for the public hospitals in Bolivia.

Mission work in South America and the Philippines.
